My bike came with stomp grips but the were falling apart badly and had some dirt in the adhesive. I also had to remove them since im painting the tank. Any ideas on what glue to use to reapply them?

Silicone, contact cement, 3m spray adhesive?

I dont mind if that $hit becomes permant as long as the dont fly off.

This will be some pretty permanent stuff, but I've used it on the foam seat pads for my race bikes because they don't always wanna stay on.  Get you some 2-part epoxy... they have some 1 minute and 5 minute stuff that when it cures, it will be there till you sell the bike.  I did recently have my superbike tail repainted and they removed the seat pad and sanded it back down... don't know how difficult that was, but it came out good.

honestly for the $25 that they sell for, I'd just buy new ones.

Cheapest ive seen them is about $50. Honestly I'm trying to go as cheap as possible with this track build. I'm tired of spending serious dough and not even being a racer, lol. I have too many expenses coming up such as tires and track days, not saying this to be a prick but I honestly need around 1k in tires alone.
However I did find a solution and from the looks of it it seems better then how they originally come. I used some RhinoGrip Indoor or Outdoor 75 ft. Double-Sided Acrylic Adhesive Strip Roll
I remembered I used this to put some vinyl tiles and it sticks like crazy, looks just like the original crap they use but stickier.

Use that Shoe Goo.  Works great.  Put it on and wait and push it on.  Have to keep following up doing until it's real tacky but works.  Give
it a shot.  Tube is like 3-4 bucks.

mix 75% rubbing alcohol and tap water in  a spray bottle. shake very well. mist it on the non-sticky part of the stomp grip (do NOT saturate, if you do, wait time is longer). wait a minute, then press firmly on the tank for a minute or so. the alcohol water will reactivate glue and allow it to stick again.

I'm with DB on buying new but I get not wanting to spend the money.

I've had that too where the glue starts to let go and dirt gets in along the edges.

For what it's worth, the glue on the back of them Stomp Grips has a tendency to liquify when the bike sits outside for extended periods in hot weather.  At least that's been my experience.

I've had sets slide down the tank and then reattach when the temps drop.  Sucks.  The TechSpecs I'm currently running have slipped a bit and then reattached as well - leaving a ring of dried glue film where they used to sit.

I've never used any kind of tank grip. Does it really make that much if a difference?
