Hey guys,
My name is Jason and I'm an R&D tech for Bazzaz. I'm here to answer any and all questions you all have about Bazzaz products, or just in general about fuel control, quick shifting, traction control systems, etc. I will do my best to give out fair accurate answers about our competition, I know everyone has their own prefferenece and I'm not here to start any arguments.
So shoot, what do you want to know? Edited by user Tuesday, October 25, 2011 10:03:47 AM(UTC)

I just recently purchased a QS4 for my L1 750 and I noticed that my harness is different than what is shown on the install instructions. On my harness there is no ground lug connector, no shift light connector and no gear positiion sensor. Needless to say, when I install it, the bike will turn but won't start. When its removed the bike starts fine. The unit also will not power up. When its connected to a computer it will but only with the usb cable attached. On the software is shows that the tach is maxed out at 18000 rpm. Is this because its missing those connetors? And if so, how is that possible?

It sounds like you got the coil harness instead of the QS4 harness. The coil harness just has the coil connectors and the shift switch connector, and is meant to be used on the Z-Fi QS and Z-Fi TC units, in conjuction with the fuel harness, which has the ground lug, GPS, and TPS connectors. If you purchased it new, then you need to contact whoever you bought it from, and exchange it our for the porper harness; if you bought it directly from us, then just call tech support and they'll set you up with a return order to get you the proper harness.

Buying a ZFi/QS/TC unit today for my 05 GSXR1000. It's my street bike that will see occassional track duty (keeping the stock exhaust because my neighborhood is REALLY quiet and there used to be a guy in the neighborhood that had a bike with a loud exhaust that they would call the cops on - don't need that). Anyway, do I need any kind of a special harness or anything to hook it up to the stock harness? I'm having a shop install/dyno-tune it for me. Any recommendations or requirements I should know about would be greatly appreciated!

Our kits come with absolutely everything you need to install them on your bike. The Z-Fi TC comes with the fuel harness, coild harness, shift switch, shift rod, and O2 eliminators. Our stuff is pretty easy to install, so the shop should have no issue putting it on the bike and tuning it for you.

So I got my harness situation all sorted out, thanks again, and I'm gonna be hooking it up in a few days. My first question is: I currently have a zbomb and zfi installed which both are connected to the GPSensor. The QS4 also has this sensor as well. Will all three of them need to be plugged in line (if even possible) with each other to work?
Also, I purchased a zafm for self tuning but I have a stock exhaust and didn't realize there was going to be a size difference. I've changed the stock filter to a K&N race filter and I have a slip-on. I plan on getting a full exhaust in the near future (hopefully by next season). Would you know if the O2 sensor on the zafm was made to or can accomodate the bung welded on most aftermarket exhaust systems or do people generally have to purchase one separately to have it welded on to fit the bazzaz zafm? I'm looking into either getting a full leo vince system or akrapovic.

Glad to hear you got the harness situation all sorted. Yes, all three will have to be plugged in; both the Z-Fi and QS4 need to know what gear the bike is in, and then after they rad that signal, the Z-bomb will trick the bike into thinking it's never in 6th gear. As far as the bung in the exhaust go, I know that sometimes you can request to have the M18 O2 sensor bung welded into your full system when you order them, but you'll to call and check first, if not you can purchase the bung from us, and have it welded on at a welding shop.

I'm in need of a new shift rod for my quick shift system but when I look at the applications I don't know which shift rod I need. I'm using the factory rearsets on my L1 750 which I believe are the same from 06+. I have the gp setup. I tried just getting the one that comes with the kit but I don't know the part number. Would you know what type rod I need? Thanks for any input you have.

We have several different sizes of rods. So if the one that came with the kit doesn't work you can get a different one from us. Is the rod we sent you too long or too short?

I didn't get a rod. I bought it second hand and it didn't come with one. When I went to order one I noticed that there are different thread sizes and genders. I'm not exactly sure which one I need. From researching, I know that the one that comes with the kit is specific to the bike and its adjustable but as far as the thread size and gender I'm lost. I think I need to get two and have one as a spare.

Looks like that kit comes with a 185mm M6x1 F-F rod, and the female rods can be shortened up to 60mm in 10mm incriments to account for rear set location, std vs rev shifting, etc. Did you want to go ahead and order two? they're $29.95 a piece.

I have everything hooked up. Everything works except the QS4. It WILL shift when bike in on the rear stand however when I'm riding the bike on the road it won't unless I let off the throttle a bit. Also I notice when I have it plugged into the computer it won't read the gear. It always stays in "N" no matter what I do. Now I have a zfi plugged in as well and it will show the gear position correctly as well as TPS but it won't on the qs4. I've tried elimiating the zfi and the zbomb and only using the qs4. No luck. I read on another forum of someone having the same problem and they said they had to switch to "online" mode because they kept it in "work offline" and that solved their issue. I can't figure out how to make sure the software is in "online" mode. Could this be the problem or can it be something else?

If it was an online-offline issue, then your Z-Fi would be having the same problem. It could be a neutral polarity issue... Double check that the wires on the QS4 connector match the wires on the Z-Fi connector.

Are you referring to where they connect at the GPS sensor? I'll make sure that all the wires line up. Could it be that I'm running a 64 bit windows 7? I have a computer running xp but its a desktop. I'm willing to try anything at this point because its driving me crazy. The way I have it hooked up is the connector for the gear position sensor is going into the zfi connector-->then the QS4 connector-->then the zbomb--> then the connector going to the ecu. Both units get power. Its just not reading the gear on the qs4

Well its on its way back to bazzaz HQ for further review. I sent it in along with the harness. I figure it maybe the module because I used a voltmeter to test the voltage on the GPS wires (pink and blue/white) and both the zfi and QS4 are getting identical signals all the way to the connector. The zfi reads it but the QS4 won't. Hopefully when you get it you can help.

Yeah, that's what I was about to suggest. b/c if the Z-Fi is getting the right signal, there's no reason the QS4 shouldn't.

Just got my QS4 back today and installed. It shifts as smooth as butter now! Turns out it was a programming issue. For some reason, some numbers in the diagnostic section got cleared and that was causing the whole issue. Can't say enough about the customer service from bazzaz tech. Best customer service I've ever experienced. They received it Friday, and by Monday morning I got a call saying it was fixed and being shipped back to me. Thanks!

Does the kickstand eliminator that u have on your site for the DRZ400 work on the GSXR1000?
I know i can cut solder the together and use another method but came across it and would ask before i did it myself.
Thanks

I don't believe the DRZs and GSXRs use the same style connector for the kickstand switch.

The only suzuki I have here right now is a Jordan Suzuki GSXR1000 and it doesn't even have a stock harness on it, let alone a kick stand. I also looked through all the pictures we have of the GSXRs we've had in in the past, and there were none of the kickstand connector. So I'm sorry but I don't have any way of verifying that, unless you want to post a pic of your connector for me.

I just need to see a pic of the connector, hell if it's not the same we could probably make one if we have the connector in stock.
